In the music industry, publicists, journalists and bloggers often compare new artists to established older or semi-new ones as a point of reference. Some see that as a band thing, but not rising pop star Natalia Kills. How could she be offended?  ”It’s nice to be compared to really successful women in pop. It’s nice that they see huge potential in me,” the singer/songwriter and actress born Natalia Keery-Fisher said in an interview earlier this month. (more…)

There’s something deliciously illicit about Natalia Kills. Even if the English singer’s name didn’t evoke a villainess from some outtake of The Avengers, one gets the impression the lass would be just as comfortable running a con or plotting a heist, as she is pulling a Machiavelli on the pop world. Then there’s that whole murderous girl thing she’s got goin’ on; an explicit lethality which can be found in both the sound of her single “My Boyfriend,” and the visions of her Love Kills xxvideo series, in addition to the very name itself. On the terrace of South Beach’s Catalina Hotel on Thursday night, just hours before Kills took her stand at Mansion, it was all I could do to not ask her if she’d like to go knock off a bank.

She’s been making a name for herself in the UK (and what a name!), now Natalia Kills is hitting the States with her debut album, Perfectionist. Celebuzz had a chance to talk to this musical “killer” about her awesome name, her new album, and being compared to Mother Monster.

You have a great stage name! How did it come about?
Thank you! I wanted to find a way to describe myself so that people could get an immediate sense of who I am. My real name is Natalia… and Kills isn’t in the murderous meaning but when you give 100-percent of your passion to something you love, you “kill it.” I’m a perfectionist and I’m very passionate about my music.

Who are some of the artists that have inspired you?
I love emotional artists, people who write honestly about their opinions and experiences. I love Kate Bush and Alanis Morissette — their joy and pain is so refreshing and timeless. Read more at Celebuzz.
